Today's my brother Kevin's birthday. We had a surprise party for him on Thursday. I did a photo gallery of the celebration for him.

We seem to be having a huge influx of black and white cats at the shelter. Who could resist Aurora, Comet, and Palamino?

A kid volunteer is brushing a cat who looks an awful lot like Mackey. Wait a sec, that is Mackey. What the heck is he doing in here? He belongs to the vet downstairs and is always trying to break into the shelter. Apparently the kid let him in. Oops. Better get him out of here.

The kid also let some of the new cats out of their cages among the general population. Another oops, they are supposed to stay in until they have been tested and vaccinated. No wonder we have so much URI going around. I leave a note in the communications book for Barb that the kid needs to be supervised or not be there.

The sick room is still pretty darn full.

I do the pictures and jot down the adoptees in my notebook (as I predicted, that darling Kent has already been adopted), and take off for lunch and coffee.

I skipped walking this morning, after having told Priscilla last night that I was coming, because I woke up with stiff achy joints that didn't go away when I started moving around nor when I took the arthritis meds. I still feel stiff and achy and tired. I limp around downtown Newburyport, trying to get in the mood for early Christmas shopping but fail to do so. Then it's back home to throw a few things, including Birds of Siberia from which my bookmark has fallen out and having no idea where I left off I'm starting it over again, in my pack for the drive to Providence.

After some crispy yellow noodles with vegetables and tofu at Gourmet House, guaranteed comfort food, I curl up with Birds of Siberia and Nancy listens to music. We're too tired to rent a video even if Acme Video were to somehow come up with a Kyrgyz movie we haven't seen.
