To me we have all said some similar things in that security is the key for
effectively managing change. How do we create security for people?
Through information for one thing. Once people understand how the change
is actually going to effect them they know more about how to respond.
There are so many things which I feel orgnaizations do badly which
increases people resistance to change. I don't believe that people
inherently hate change or even that we learn to resist it. What tends to
fuel reactions is fear of the unknown. If we did a better job at managing
information, we would find a difference in people's reactions to change.

Personally -- I look for change -- and I love it. Sometimes it makes me
mental. But I am an incredibly strong, wise, and capable person due to
all of the chaos and change *I* have created in my life. That includes
changes which have come from other than myself. Every year seems to
increase the level of complexity of the change I am managing. I believe
my life is akin to bootcamp -- each step prepares me to handle the next
more intense step. There is no way I could have handled what is in my life
today ten years ago.

Security is an internal compass which we do learn as children.
Information is critical to my son so he can decide how to react. He now
receives plenty of warning when I am going away. He cries sometimes --
sometimes he just kisses me goodbye. My focus with him is loving -- pure
and simple. He's a two year old guy who is torn between dependence and
independence. He came home from daycare a couple of weeks ago and said --
"I love ME!" The real basis for security as far as I can see...
