Two sides of the same coin
In LO 7880 Martha told us of being ostracized by managment for breaking
some rules and creatinf a different result, e.g.

months, I was harassed and pestered because I didn't manage by the
outdated, authoritarian methods so popular throughout the rest of the
company. I was told I shouldn' trust my group, because they'd stab me in
the back. I was told I shouldn't allow people to be so creative. I was
told I was a troublemaker because I prepared my people for promotion. And
on and on and on.

In LO 7887 Ben described someone who did not fit the norms of his group

In my opinion the guy ought to be canned. Most everyone
else feels the same way, but management is very reluctant.
Basically, as a team, we've denied his existence in our
community: He comes to meetings, gripes and moans, and
leaves. We ignore it, and go on with our work the way we
would as if he wasn't even around.
Over time this will negatively impact him as he will not have
access to the knowledge contained within the community.
Right now, the guy is pretty good technically (which is why
management is reluctant to let him go), but having
removed him from the community, that will change over
time.

It is very easy to sympathise with Martha and agree with Ben, but what we
are actually seeing here are two sides of one coin and the tendency of any
group to excommunicate someone who does not think/ act/ conform. We can
easily get to being not only right but righteous about making the others or
other wrong which is a block to learning in either case.
THINK ABOUT IT - or is it just me who sees the paradox in these two posts?
