Rick,

You asked for our "dream sheet," or "three wishes for the new year." I
think you're doing fine as is. Sometimes it seems like some of the topics
(e.g. cross-species play, feedom of choice) are really wandering away
from (what I consider) the main points of discussion, but as Rol Fessenden
said, that's the only way to maximize ROE, "return on experimentation."
Never know what "party noise" from the paradigm down the hall will turn
out to be the Newest Revealed Truth. I'll bet Moses kind of held the
burning bush suspect for a while until he had that "AHA!" moment! And
even when we do wander far afield, the authors do it with such skill and
intellectual acumen that it would be hard to argue for them to stop -- I
may not learn much directly related to the basic discussion of LO from
that post, but I WILL learn something, guaranteed.

Host's Note: Jim originally sent this directly to me and I asked him to
resend to the list. As moderator, I do weed out things that are far off
topic, but I'm conscious that our most interesting threads (I think) have
started not in the center of our topic, but at the edges. Therefore, in
considering messages for the list, I'm aiming at "appropriate variety."

Sometimes this is hard, and please forgive me when it gets too far from
center. For what it's worth, I do reject a few messages, but not very many.
