Replying to LO3289 --

Michael McMaster's reference to 'situated learning' and 'learning at the
edge' (technically known as ZPD - the Zone of Proximal Development') comes
from Activity Theory, whose primary expositors are L.S. Vygotsky (Mind in
Society, 1978) and A.N. Leont'ev (Activity, Consciousness and personality,
1978).

There is a listserver where Activity Theory, situated cognition and ZPD is
discussed. It is moderated at the Laboratory of Human Cognition at UCSD
and can be accessed by sending the single word message 'subscribe' to:
