three fat cats

January 16, 2003

It feels weird to be washing dishes and litter boxes on Thursday instead of Wednesday. In fact when Barb came in and saw me this morning she asked "Is today Wednesday?" But Stacy had asked me to fill in on Thursday this week and I always do what I'm told. :-)

The little sneezy possible ringworm kitten I mentioned yesterday has moved to the sick room. Three fat cats whose owner committed suicide are here. They are huge. As big as or bigger than big Buddy - hitherto the MRFRS standard fat cat. There are a million stories in the naked city, this is one of them (the tag line of a very old TV show in case you don't recognize the allusion). There are probably a million stories on Bridge Rd. alone these days. Salisbury is that kind of town. I'll be disappointed when it gets yuppified like Newburyport but for now it's still the locus of bait sellers, key cutters, used boats, strip clubs (OK, one strip club - but me and Roy are always promising each other we'll go there for lunch someday and then chickening out), stored carnival rides, pawn shops, and almost good service. And three hugely fat cats.
