The former Catholicoses of the Armenian Apostolic Church are buried here at Echmiadzen. The forty day period of mourning for the late Catholicos was not over, so there were black ribbons on his throne inside the cathedral and his grave was covered only with earth and marked with a wooden cross.
Next time you're in Echmiadzen there will be a stone over this grave.
