Over the past few years, many people at Young Israel of Brookline have worked diligently to provide an appropriate vehicle to remember and honor our loved ones. We are delighted to inform you that our memorial wall has been installed. Welch Architectural Signage of Portland, Maine designed the wall. Welch is a leading designer of museum, synagogue, university and other distinctive, nationally acclaimed dedicatory and memorial walls.
The memorial wall enables us to pay tribute in perpetuity to those who are no longer with us. It is located in the bet midrash, and complements our beautiful shul architecturally. Each entry on the wall includes a loved one's English and Hebrew name and English and Hebrew yahrzheit date. You may add your loved one's name to the memorial wall for a one time tax deductible donation of $600. If you would like to obtain more information about the new memorial wall, or if you have name(s) for the wall, please contact Kenny Wintman, who is chairing this effort. You may reach Kenny at 617-566-2483 or kiw2020@msn.com.
The new memorial wall also includes all 700 names that appeared on the memorial boards in the shul's old building. If you wish to obtain the original bronze plaque that was recovered after the fire in 1994, please contact Emily in the shul office at 617-734-0276 or yibrookline@yahoo.com.
To submit your application, print and fill out an on-line version of our Memorial Plaque Form.
