About Bnei Akiva

Bnei Akiva is much more than a youth group - its a youth movement, with a rich history, a complex and exciting ideology, and its own set of unique customs.

Bnei Akiva is today one of the largest International youth movements represented in over 30 countries, with over 50,000 members. It began as a tiny organization in Jerusalem , Israel in 1929. Simultaneously, youth groups with the Torah VaAvodah ideology were being started in Europe , affiliated with the Poalei HaMizrachi Movement. Within a few years, Bnei Akiva had set up structures in many Diaspora countries, embedding those communities with the ideology of Torah VaAvodah. Members of the Torah VaAvodah youth movements in the Diaspora made aliyah to join with their brothers in Bnei Akiva of Israel as chalutzim, building kibbutzim and actualizing the ideals of Torah VaAvodah.
