The Chorale originated the idea and held the first-ever
Messiah Sings
and Summer Sings in New England.
The Chorale was the centerpiece for the Great Woods Festival Chorus in
1986 and 1987, appearing with the Pittsburgh Symphony and
Michael Tilson Thomas. It has received Boston Magazine's
prestigious "Best of Boston" award, and has twice received awards from
the Association for Performing Arts.
Other highlights of the Masterworks Chorale's first half-century include performances with the Boston Ballet, at Leonard Bernstein's 65th birthday celebration, and in Mexico with the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra. During the summer of 1994, the Chorale presented concerts to capacity crowds in cities and towns throughout Spain.
