Eliot's note for line 210 indicated that c.i.f. means "carriage and insurance free." In fact, c.i.f. means "cost, insurance and freight." Does "carriage and insurance free" actually have some hidden meaning or did Eliot make a mistake here? Was he trying to mislead the reader or was he playing a joke?
