During our period, BBMag annually selected one team of players from the American League and one from the National League. They did not recognize the Federal League with a team. The one annual "All America Team" was composed of roughly half the players on the two league teams, with one exception. In 1910, Walter Johnson was not among three AL pitchers but he was one of five All America pitchers, four from the AL and one from the NL.
Beginning in 1915, each team was a Ten: a regulation Nine with two pitchers. Before 1915, the teams were larger because they included larger "batteries" of pitchers and catchers. Indeed, the composition of the battery changed every year.
