ENGL 420: Business Writing
Professional Writing Program
Department of English
Purdue University

[Mary Hopper received a B.A. in English in 1985 with majors in
English Literature and English Secondary and Junior High Teaching.
She completed courses in English Language and Creative Writing
within the Deparment of English.

She was also course assistant for English 420, Business Writing.
She organized materials for instructors in a multi-section course
lead by Dr. Jeanne Halpern that served about 1,500 Purdue students
in 75 sections per year. The course focused on rhetorical principles
and writing practices necessary for producing effective business
communications and included extensive curriculum about how to write
proposals and reports.

The materials that she organized later became the documents used
in the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL).]
