Lee Sproull is Professor of Management at Boston University. Prior to joining Boston University, she was Professor of Social Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University for 13 years. She has a B.A. from Wellesley College, and a M.A. and Ph.D. from Stanford University.

Professor Sproull's research centers on the social, managerial, and organizational implications of computer-based technologies that augment human communication such as electronic mail, computer conferences, and interactive video. She has conducted research in Fortune 500 firms, scientific communities, city governments, universities, software development teams, and Usenet groups.

Professor Sproull has published seven books and more than forty research articles. (Sproull, 1995)
