Pumping Insulin : Everything You Need for Success With an Insulin Pump
by John Walsh Torrey Pines Pr, June, 2000, ISBN:1884804845 Order from Amazon.com Make sure if you buy this book that it is the third edition. If you are on an insulin pump, this book is invaluable. Not only is the book useful when you first start pumping, you will find yourself leafing through the book even when you are an old pro. Even if you are not on the pump, the chapters on how insulin affects the body is very informative. Highly recommended. |

Putting your Diabetes on the Pump by Fran Kaufman American diabetes Association Jan 1, 2002, ISBN:1580401414 Order from Amazon.com If you are going to only buy one book on pumping, buy "Pumping Insulin", not this book. This book is very small (60 pages, and 5 1/2"x4") and doesn't fully explain all the concepts it goes into. (For example, it mentions the 1800/1500 rule, but doesn't explain when you would use either number.) It does have some good suggestions on where to wear the pump, and similar issues. My suggestion, if you can get this book for very cheap ($4 or less), pick it up. But, it is not worth the $7.95 price tag that it currently has. |

Insulin Pump Therapy Demystified by Gabrielle Kaplan-Mayer Marlowe & Company, Dec 10, 2002, ISBN 1569245088 Order from Amazon.com |

|
| Medical Management of Pregnancy Complicated by Diabetes by Lois Jovanovic American Diabetes Association, June 4, 2003, ISBN: 1580400132 Order from Amazon.com A great book for any diabetic woman who is thinking about, or is pregnant. This covers just about everything you would want to know about the issues (and maybe some issues you don't want to know). The language does get pretty complicated at times, so you may need to consult someone with medical training to understand everything in this book. |
|
| Diabetes & Pregnancy: What to Expect by the ADA ADA, Feb 28, 2001, ISBN: 158040071X Order from Amazon.com This is a good book for the basics. |
