Replying to LO12848 --

Sherri,

Thanks for your message on "Why I do what I do.."

I read it as one the first messages I got to on returning from a trip to
the USA facilitating some teamworking sessions with a client/friend in San
Francisco.

What struck me from your posting was the bits about 'caring'

My experience has been this is what many people value about what we do.
At the end of my trip I was given a delightful book of pictures about
California. I asked if people would sign it making it an even more
memorable momento. The comments were a delight, especially those like
"thank you for lending me your ear.."

People talk to us because they feel they cannot talk to anyone else. I
seek to help them talk to their colleagues and bosses and value that they
are prepared to talk to me.

I do what I do to help people get more for themselves, to encourage them
to ask for what they want and not to be too disappointed if they cannot
have it.

It makes life exciting, frustrating, scary because every situation is
different, where tomorrow's work is coming from is often uncertain.

And I go on trying.

I am pleased to say that more now seem to find the things we do of value.
A comment from the client in California makes it worthwhile "I can't
possibly do everything on my own. Help is essential"

I love your posts. Please keep them coming.
