Replying to LO12826 --

Winfried Dressler said in Leadership Trends LO12826, in response to
Ben Compton's:

> >And we'll spend a lot of time in our careers just sitting around.

>Just sitting around is a great thing to do (as long as its not the only
>thing we do).

So a few random thoughs:

It is the old, "Don't Just DO Something, Stand There" approach that I
recommend.

Or the Vulcan concept of logic and emotional control. Or other approaches
about objectivity and perspective. I've seen similar dialog on Freeze
Frame that HeartMath Institute supports.

But the reality is that in many organizations, there is a heavy price to
pay to have the boss ever catch you sitting at your desk and doing
"nothing." "We don't pay people to think around here, you know!"

I am reminded of President John's quote, at the senior management planning
retreat, when we were talking about ideas from employees and he said,

"That's like asking the vegetables how to design a refrigerator."

John's no longer there. Company is doing well. May we live in
interesting times,
