The "wood" idea reminded me of an old thought on leading change:
"With people as with wood, a little glue and slight pressure produces
a much stronger bond than a Big Hammer and a bunch of nails."
Change is really continuous continous improvement (the mission of the
Department of Redundancy Department) -- that is the key to improvment.
But that's unusually unusual in many organizations.
