Recently I posted a message in which I recommended an excellent book
written by Kees van der Heijden, titled 'Scenarios and the Art of
Strategic Conversation'.

Kees van der Heijden describes scenarios as tools for learning within the
Strategic Planning process. One of its main elements is the concept of the
Business Idea. Very roughly said, this describes the organisational self
(e.g. distinctive competenties play a role in this). It is the interplay
between the environment (partly caught within scenarios) and the
organisational self (caught within the Business Idea) that eventually
determines strategic choices.
