Replying to LO12624

Kent,

what I refer to in my posting LO12591 is an organisation in which people
work together to create solutions and to support learning rather than
working together to build barriers, escalate confrontation and create
defensive routines.

I like the metaphor of the class that carries on working when the teacher
leaves the room for a cigarette. What I am talking about is an
organisation that carries on working when any one leaves the room for a
cigarette - and they all respect the importance of the smoke.

Also John Zavacki (LO12636) is right - the 'consultant' must move on
having transferred knowledge and skills. A good consultant is one who
does not need to go back to the same organisation for the same problems.

In LO12643 Tony Barrett writes about the organisation of Humble Learners,
beautiful! Teams of consultants fight like cats and dogs because the
culture of the businesses they (typically) work in encourages it. Is it
possible to imagine Humble Consultants? I guess we just have to be clear
about our definitions here. Some consultants are good and some are bad.
Getting back to the original subject line - Bold Pronouncements are not
particularly useful, either from management or consultants, what we need
round here is a bit of humility.

Regards to all
