Replying to LO12468

Double-Loop Learning is a concept that appeals to me directly. When
Malcolm introduces the term in his posting he uses it to describe the
ability to learn through a culture of further exploration even if on the
face of it something appears to have been a failure. This is a very
powerful approach and one from which many people could benefit. Perhaps
it is actually the key to creating a Learning Organization.

It is my view that a "safe learning environment" is all about creating a
risk (& blame) free environment for exploration and experimentation.
Unfortunately, for many people, the concept that "getting things wrong" is
actually OK is very new. I guess culture and society in general tends to
think otherwise - and I think we all know how powerful these two beasties
can be in influencing the behavior of individuals.

What approaches does anyone know of that develop this environment for the
purpose of creating a learning experience? Ian Saunders I know, knows of
at least one (reasonably radical) - Does anybody else have experience of
designing, running or taking part in such programmes?

Au revoir
