Replying to LO12240 --

John Constantine presented interesting ideas. His thoughts about checking
and errors reminded me instantly of the many times I have sat in an
airline seat and have heard the captain say "Flight attendants, please
cross-check." The reference is to checking doors for complete closure
(among other things)--but checking the door opposite the one you have
closed yourself.

And then, of course, there's the second officer (co-pilot). A comforting
"cross-check" in an industry where at least one measure of error-free
travel (no deaths ((compare to auto travel))) is beyond six sigma.
