Replying to LO11938 -- was: Disappointment -- No soul?

Julie Beedon comments in LO11938:
>I too share Ron's fascination with how this group functions and was
>interested to read his trends..
<snip some interesting insights>
>7. Some people participate in 'waves' and I wonder if it is the nature of
>the conversation or the ebb and flow of their lives which influences their
>participation.

I guess I count as a "waver", as an occasional poster.

For my part, I think it's a mixture of both. Sometimes a thread gains my
attention, and sometimes it's as much as I can do to find time to
skim-read all the contributions. By that I am not de-valuing the many
fine contributions to this list, merely recognising constraints on my time
and that I have a life away from the keyboard !

And then sometimes by the time I've got to the end of a few digests,
others have said what I would have said, so there seems little point in
saying "me too". (I think that you've commented before on this time-lag
and the dynamics it can produce).
