I agree strongly. I watched a documentary the other day on Stephen
Hawking (A Brief History of Time) and his mother made (more or less) the
following comment:

"Someone has to be prepared to think the unthinkable..." She was making a
similar point; that unless we are prepared to do this, we are not really
thinking, and progress is made when people are prepared to do this."

She also made the comment that Stephen's disability had forced him to
focus his thinking in a way that the majority of us are simply not
prepared, or able, to do.

Food for thought. I thought!
