Hello Everyone,

I joined the list a few months ago after reading an interview with Richard
Karash that was published in Quality Progress magazine. Since joining, I
have been pretty much a spectator and have enjoyed reading the dialogues.
I am still assessing the best way to add value to the process.

I currently work in the area of Information Management for the Department
of Defense with a focus on improving the quality and lowering the cost of
administrative automated information systems. I am an officer in the Army
Reserve and teach continuous quality improvement part-time at the local
colleges. I also serve as the program coordinator for a community quality
initiative in Indianapolis.

In his 1961 Inaugural address, President Kennedy challenged the people of
the world to work together in the struggle against the common enemies of
mankind: tyranny, poverty, disease and war itself. He went on to say
"that all this will not be finished in the first 100 days. Nor will it be
finished in the first 1,000 days, nor in the life of this administration,
nor perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin."

I have a passion for learning, testing and applying different theories and
tools that that may lead to the resolution of issues that have plagued
humankind since the beginning of time. I believe that the principles
implied in the concepts of continuous improvement and learning
organizations provide some common ground that may help in the struggle.

I want to thank Rick Karash for making this forum available and I also
want to thank everyone that participates -- either actively or passively.
