Group goals do not have to force the individual into a position of
conformity. Cooperative groups can be a place that nurture individual
expression and creativity. Group feedback can encourage greater insight
where individuals decide to modify behaviors in accord with group goals.
Obedient conformity to the group is essentially the abandonment of
individuality, creativity and self-understanding.
