Replying to Gerard Blair's message (LO11328) and adding to it.

I was thinking of an external person doing the coaching and passing on
their skills so that the person could continue without you. I agree with
Michael that this is as important when the boss is the coach.

I like the point, 'An organisation is only limited by the person at the
top'

Maybe, whilst being generally true, it can be overtaken by the situation
where the next level down is forced to get its coaching from outside in an
effort to continue to move forwards. ie. Ends up replacing the person at
the top.
