Jack Hirschfeld writes, "Not only does language not convey the meaning,
but in my opinion the evolution of language has developed into modes of
verbal behavior which can be obstacles to knowing."
Isn't this the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis, also known as the Theory of
Linguistic Relativity?
Howard Gardner makes a similar, though more elaborated, point when he
speaks of Seven Intelligences, linguistic intelligence being only one of
them.
