Replying to LO10913 --

One of the things that I really like about the LO list is that the people
here really do take learning seriously. To that end, I would like to
suggest a couple of web sites that might be of interest in learning about
the topic of depression.

The first is a wonderfully designed and rich, non-technical site that
provides quite a bit of information and insight. It is called "Wing of
Madness: A Depression Guide"

http://members.aol.com/depress/index.htm

I particullary liked the best and worst things to say to someone with
depression. It is in the resources section.

The other is a more technical, but still not overwhelming, description of
clinical depression. It is called "The Black Fog: Clinical Depression"

http://work1.utsi.edu:8000/tammy/clindep/content.html

In particular section VIII on how to help is interesting.

I hope this is of value to the discussion.
