Greetings: My name is Tony Barrett. I started reading about
Organizations when did my last my last semester at Fuller Theological
Seminary (an inter-demoninational school with a school of theology, world
mission, and pyschology) in Pasadena California. Theologically, Fuller is
middle of the road, akin to Princeton Theo. Seminary, perhaps a tad more
conservative. Anyway I was studying cultural anthroplogy so I could work
training missionaries to be more aware of cultural issues. We read a book
by Henry Minzberg at McGill Univ. entitle"Power In and Around
Organizations." (He is an MIT grad.) It was here I realized that after 8
years of school I would not fit into a missionary organization. Along
with the religious right gaining power in many churches, I felt less and
less at home in churches.

After many twist and turns, I have found myself working as a maintenance
supervisor at the University of Idaho, thinking about why this department
doesn't function so well. Once again I back in school, this time
Education, wishing to understand learning styles in adults. So I am
working full time and slowly chipping away at requirements for a Ph.D. I
look forward to reading your comments and sharing mine in years ahead.

Warm Regards,

Tony
