I enjoyed Don Kerr's contribution with one point I need to better understand:

>David Steindl-Rast defines sin is alienation and salvation is belonging.
>Whenever I say "Yes" to belonging to a group or society, I agree to
>"Behave as people behave when they truly belong together." Love is saying
>"Yes" to that belonging without conditions.

[snip]

Don, it seems to me you defined belonging as accepting the conditions
imposed/agreed to by the group. It would follow then, Love is saying
"Yes" to that belonging with those conditions. So, when you go on to say,

>What is moral? Unconditional belonging.
>What is immoral? Conditional separation.

I can accept moral is conditional belonging and immoral is unconditional
separation (there are no "accepted" conditions).

I'll echo Ben's comment. Thank you for helping me think this in a new
way.
