Replying to LO10937 --

I am sad reading the messages today. I know that many people are feeling
pressed like they never have before in their lives. I know that I
personally am handling stress that at times leaves me exhausted (not to
mention lack of sleep due to a two year old whose internal clock has not
changed!).

Sometimes I think about a book I read ages ago called Cosmic Consciousness
(sorry for using the C word again). One of the things that intrigued me
about this book was that it talked about human beings as a whole
developing over the years. For example, Christianity developed and had
very strict rules etc because that it what was needed by human
consciousness at the time. Maybe a simplistic approach but it set out
specific times as being very challenging because of the needed change in
mental models (the acceptable phrase for consciouness on this list <-:) It
did state that this period we are in now would be very difficult for many
people because the needed shift in mental models would be very
challenging.

I know many people who are taking anit-depressants. I know many people
who are alcoholics -- my ex-husband is an alcoholic. I know many people
who are or have been dealing with incredible hardship and tragedy. I have
been the victim of other people's inability to cope with their own crazy
lives. But there is forever this spark inside that says I can cope with
whatever comes across my plate. What gives me this? The observed
spirituality that Julian dared to bring up in LO10884. Am I religious --
no. Do I believe JC existed -- sure. But I interpret what he says a
little bit differently although very similar to what Donald Kerr has been
getting at. When Jesus said I am the way -- my interpretation is that we
human beings can do exactly as he did -- we have the capability -- all of
us -- to be Saviours. I believe we are all learners. We are in a global
university called planet earth.

I believe we are experiencing the tension between fear and possibility.
In our hearts many of us know we are capable of so much more. I have been
having these thoughts since I was 13 and I felt very alone at the time
because what I was thinking and feeling had no expression in the world.
Although when I dug deeper I did find others but not the general
acceptance there is today. So, for strength I go back to my own personal
mission which is very simply stated as love. I am now seeing the need to
change this to unconditional love. How does this help those who are lost
deeper in the overwhelming tide of emotion? Find your spark. Find your
heart and dare to feel it. My mental model states that emotions become
overwhelming when we resist them -- you know the old saying what you
resist persists. The alcoholics and people on anti-depressants that I know
all have incredibly huge hearts but don't know how to be alive in the
world with so much feeling.

Don't lose hope. Don't stop caring. Find your spark.
