I am finding this thread very stimulating ..

Really making me think about change....

Reading through the posts and connecting somethings Michael, Rol
and Sherri said:

Michael:
>Yes, I am suggesting that change is something that "just happens". We
>always have something to say about it and never have everything to say
>about it.
Rol:
>I am not convinced that control is the key to accepting change.
>Control does not exist.
Sherri:
>We blew it initially and then got smart and worked out a way to manage the
>transition.

Made me think about the no. of things (fads/initiatives etc.. ) which talk
about 'managing change' there must be reasons why change is such an
'issue' for us.

How could this view of change as an issue be totally transformed? Could
we reframe it and see it as learning (without it we would stay the same ie
not learn??)

Sherri clearly learned some clues about transition with her son and I like
Bridges material around the idea that it is dealing with transitions that
cause us difficulties...

If we seperate change - largely uncontrollable and constant

from transition - something we can 'manage' (and that is not the right
word)

would that help??

If we are going to develop our ability to work with change as a welcome
constant all around us do we need to develop another word/concept to
describe the things we do to handle it?? Or does learning do it??

Very interesting...
