The subject I suggest is inspired by a discussion/dialogue conducted by
Margaret Wheatley (which I unfortunately was unable to attend but heard
about) in Boston. On the lo list we have discussed a number of different
systems and that these systems need to change eg; government, healthcare,
legal, education, etc. Margaret was saying, and I believe this is
inspired partially by Bohm's work, that we need to think differently about
systems change. We tend to break things down, fracture systems in order
to understand them -- sort of a reductionsit theory. Her challenge was --
how do we take a system as a whole and approach change that way? She says
that the way to do this is through relationship, identity, and strength.
Organizations are causing us to lose our identity -- and they are losing
their identities. Loss of identity creates fear...
