A very good book was written in 1988 by Robert Quinn published by Josey
Bass called Beyond Rational Management. He describes organizations as
being in one of four quadrants and that it requires a different style of
management for each quadrant. I have successfully used this with clients
to enable them to understand some of the shifts needed to move from
entrepreneurial to more structured and so on. Quinn uses examples to
illustrate -- it's a great book.
