Rol, you state that 90% of reward systems are benign. I'm assuming this
is your estimate based on personal experience. Please correct me if I'm
wrong. My own experience which directly relates to hundreds of
organizations, and indirectly, to thousands, is very different.

I didn't mean to imply that a new reward system would ever be THE solution
to an organization's probems. Having spent the past 17 years as a
Compensation System Doctor, my vision is probably a little myopic.
Because I am a specialist in Compensation diseases, I may be able to
diagnose a pay system illness that others would miss. I know the
compensation system design features that often cause employees to behave
in a way that conflicts with the culture the organization is trying to
create. My prescription for the pay system will seek to align it with
other management systems. Yet I am a firm believer in holistic medicine
and I will always rely on the expertise of others to assist in healing the
many ills of the patient.
