Replying to John re: co-mmunication.

If I listen and just sit there like a lump, could it be that I did not
understand what you said to me? If that is the case, isn't it possible
for the sender to adjust/change their message and then it may reach me? I
have been in too many conversations where I am willing to listen, eager to
understand and then I just don't get what the sender is saying--because of
both of our filters. My filter in preventing understanding and the
sender's filter in the way they deliver the message. Then, if the sender
phrases their question/comment in a different way--all of the sudden aha!
I get it! That seems to me to be a two-way process (actually technically I
guess I'm describing a feedback loop). I have a hard time breaking
through my "filter" that co-mmunication is a two-way process.
