Host please link arbitralily.

The conversation on this thread brings to mind my experience of two years
in the PRC where I had to get used to meetings through interpreters
[sometimes several a day]. At the time we found several hard going, but
reflecting since, I realise many were pretty effective.

The advantage of having to work through an interpreter has suddenly struck
me. It forced both sides to take the trouble to understand what was
actually being said.

Someone [Winston Churchill?] described the UK and the USA as 'divided by a
common language' and the phrase now comes back to me as an apt description
of many an organisational 'team'.
