Replying to LO9110 --

Judy asks if any of us have the title of Chief Learning Officer, or know
anything about it. Personally I don't hold the title (I think my new,
official title is Change Champion, or something like that. . .I've never
been much into titles), but today while sitting in a very boring meeting I
happened to pick up a copy of PC Week.

I read the first part of an article about Chief Knowledge Officers, a step
up from Chief Information Officers. CKO's focus mostly on knowledge
management, which, IMO, is an important element to building a LO. (Many
thanks to Bo Newman, who used to participate on this list, for introducing
me to Knowledge Management.)

I don't have the article handy, but here's the two things I remember most:
1) CKO's are paid a lot of money (I believe the precise numbers were
between $600,000 and $1,000,000 a year. . . for that amount of money I
might be able to "get into" titles. . . )

2) They primarily focus on helping an organization process the information
it has, from whatever source it is derived, and translate it into
actionable knowledge.

Don't know if that helps any, but I thought the idea was interesting.
