Gary put it in a clear way. Making a different demands a great amount of
effort, much more than not making the difference. We could say that those
who try to make the difference may be compared to those who navigate in
white waters (Peter Vaill's analogy). Those who do not navigate in very
calm waters. They don't even row...
There were a couple of authors (don't have the reference handy) who call
entrepeneurs and others with innovative ideas "heroes." I guess one has
to be a hero to be able to come with the demands that making the
difference represent.
