Bill:
You've struck on something in your last paragraph which has taken a good
bit of my adult thinking time. You wrote:
"Per Covey, perhaps they were following laws of nature better than others
(eg golden section). I was suggesting that those very 'laws' of nature
have never been investigated (or perhaps published) to the degree that say
evolution, or atom smashing, have. Is that because they are seen as
emotional or religious as opposed to black and white? It seems that the
lines grow more blurry each day :)"
What fascinates me about this list of contributors is the very fact that
we DO investigate the "blurry lines," only to find them blurrier! And you
mention emotional and religious, too, in connection with Covey's thoughts.
I might substitute the word spiritual for religious, but we're talking
about the same essence, credo.
Deming said manage by facts. In God we trust, all others bring data.
It's what we do with the data that requires spirit--free-wheeling or
self-sacrificing, or deeply bound in the precepts of our great organized
religions.
Thanks for focusing my thoughts on your ideas.
Best regards after a beautiful weekend in the American northeast,
