Replying to LO8946, etc.

A question was asked about accredited, graduate on-line courses of study
related to LO. I personally looked all around the world for what I might
consider the "best" program that fit my needs as similar to the above
criteria.

I suggest you look at The Fielding Institute, at <www.fielding.edu>. I
have been a Ph.D student with them for nearly the last 3 years and find
the program values and the quality of the learning community to be most of
the things I could ask for.

Fielding now has several programs, the most related being the Ph.D in
Human and Organization Systems, which has been running for over 10 years,
and has approximately 400 students enrolled in it. Several students have
completed (or are in process of completing) dissertations in LO.

The main competition in this niche is sometimes said to include the
Saybrook Institute, Union, Pepperdine, etc. Obviously each have their own
pro's and con's; I choose Fielding due to personal connections. Some
bottom lines (whatever they are) is about $12K tuition/p.a. plus travel to
conferences plus books, on-line costs, etc. Average time to complete is
said to be 4.5 yrs - and you get a M.A. in OD as you progress. They also
have an exciting new international Masters program in org design and
effectiveness which is designed to be leading edge applied program for
international professionals.

Hope the info becomes useful knowledge
Cheers, Tony Kortens
