Here is one experience !

First I witnessed a plant startup for Emerson Electric where the whole
team were carefully assembled under a manager who had a stong background
in people selection and management training. The result was "the most
outstanding startup in the history of the company". Then I thought that
success was a result of the team selection.

Later, I witnessed a situation where a team selected with much less care
and attention did an outstanding job of managing a Personal Computer
plant. The intrinsic motivation led the team to achieve results that you
would never have expected them to be able to achieve.

Some teams are capable of great results and some situations make great
results inevitable, IMHO.

[I was off the air with a duff modem for a couple of months. Now I'm back
to listen and in the words of a song "All God's creatures have a place in
the choir : some sing low and some sing loud and some just clap their
hands". Mostly I just clap my hands on this list. Thanks Rick for
providing a safe 'watering hole' for travellers on the LO trail {trial ?}]
