Replying to LO8855 --

In my (limited) experience with "burned out" executives and managers the
opportunity to have the balance of their career be about making a
difference beyond anything they've achieved has taken care of the issue.

But the nature of that difference was very specific. The rest of the
career was to be about developing people and contributing to the future
that is possible. It seems that when development (learning?) is at the
heart of the matter, burn-out does not occur and even reverses itself when
the focus shifts.

We get "burned out" from focussing on DOING rather than BEING.
