Joan, thanks for the insightful summary of root cause. I also think that
the loss of new births boom has aggravated the shift of the industrial
revolution to the developing nations including Taiwan and China among
others. This combined with executives who were not looking beyond their
own backyard for many years. Your Xerox story is a good example.

The new leaner economy will be functional once the downsizing cycle is
completed in another five years. What I find ironic is the lack of
interest in exporting "service economy" technologies except for a few
exceptions such as McDonalds....Keith
