I can understand your concern, and to a point share it. Very few
people focus on the mystical quality of the Golden Rule. Most people
get caught up in the 'me' portion of the golden rule. I think
applying it in the platinum sense can actually bring people closer to
that 'divine totality' of which you speak.

If I am a very forceful, quick-deciding, and authoritarian person,
and you are a very shy, reserved and laid back person, if I apply the
Golden rule, I'll deal with you in a way that's very abrupt, very
decisive and allows little discussion. You'll not find this effective
and we'll either have conflict, or submission.

If I apply the platinum rule, I'll try to change my approach to a way
that is more like yours, and you'll change your approach to a way
that's more like mine. We'll meet in the middle, and in doing so see
more of who we are, and more of who others are. We'll be 'centering'
our true selves, and bringing ourselves closer to the 'divine
totality' which comprises of all types of people, in one.

I hope to discuss this further offline, as this mystical component may
not be of interest to the 'learning org' list.
