Dear Sir

I've just read your posting on the gene/meme theme and felt the need to
say "thanks." The LO page occassionally provides some real gems of
insight. And your posting was (for me) one of the best yet.

I immediately recognised something I've seen many times. You know, where
the values of the managing director of an organisation are replicated
through the ranks. As an outplacement consultant I wonder about the
interview process and whether or not interviewers are unconsciously
looking for compatible memes? And are perhaps also trying to avoid a
damaging virus.

Also I like Tom Peter's thinking -ie Have as diverse a gene pool as you
can get, if you want the organisation to survive into the next century.
And is an organisation doomed if it fails to introduce different memes?

Thanks again. (Your meme has replicated in some small way!)

Regards

Peter
