Appreciation for Rick Karash's moderation --

I personally am glad to read Rick's comments about lurkers being welcome
and his comments about those that are not native-English-speakers. In my
17.5 years in the Air Force, I have had many opportunities to travel to
other countries and participate in international conferences and meetings.
One of the things I have enjoyed the most about these opportunities is to
observe other cultures, listen to other's opinions and viewpoints, and
just talk to people from other countries and get their viewpoints on what
is happening on a daily basis. I usually end up looking differently at
something happening in the world because of conversations with
non-Americans. Some of the most fun is discussing meanings of words or
phrases that we take for granted.

As for "lurkers", the best listeners are usually those that do not do a
lot of talking. I am usually one of these types and learn more by
listening than talking.

[Host's Note: Thank you, Kim. By the way, I'm happy to hear comments or
problems from subscribers any time. My personal address is at the bottom
of our msgs. ...Rick]
