Money is a means to and end, isn't it?
Money by itself is meaningless until you trade it for something else of
value.
As others have pointed out, one can be wealthy without money, and also one
can have lots of money and not be wealthy. But is the U.S. wealth
typically means money first, other things (family, living an ethical life,
etc...) second.
