Interesting point: Benjamin Franklin retired at the age of 48
as his printing business and other ventures had made him
independently wealthy. All of the work that he is noted for --
in politics, civics, science, etc. -- was achieved after he had
retired . . . when he had the time to explore the things that
captivated his interest.

Today, hopefully, we have the opportunity of working in an
environment that enables us to take care of our physical
needs (food, shelter, etc.), and explore the things that give
a tremendous meaning to our lives. Perhaps some will be
fortunate (or wise) enough to retire early in life and entirely
devote themselves to the things they most value.

I agree, wealth does equal freedom . . . very good point
